I didn't no if I should have responded on original thread or not ,please forgive me as this is important info.As I first posted about my lovely CHING he had chronic ear infectins that would go away for 10 days up to 3-4 weeks and then return,I told the vet that this is not going away and that I've been spending close to 1500.00 on this problem and that I needed her to be more agressive about killing this chronic ear infection that keeps returning,so my vet cultured Chings ears and low and be hold the reason why Chings ears wern't getting better was because he had a very severe case of "PSEUDOMONAS" a TOTALLY resistent bacteria that is immune to ALL TYPICAL treaments, ie;otimax, flushes and steroid treatments. The ONLY way this Bacteria can be killed is through a long term treatment 2-3 months maybe longer of the use of the antibiotic "CEPRO" which was used heavely in the months following 911 for anthrax.Ching is starting to feel much better now but this is a incedious bacteria and when you think things are better their not! ,so again Long Term Treatment is the only option here.you can look up the bacteria on google .thank you people for listening and please for give my spelling. please post if you think your Sar-pei might have this.

Hi Sue,yes the infection finally cleared up.We decided to have Ching's upper ear canals removed. This was done 5 weeks ago and I'll say this, only wish I new sooner than I did,as I've mentioned Ching has had chronic ear problem's since about 6 months old,and we didn't treat the problem only the symptons.Since his ear canals were so tiny it became very clear to all involved with him to have this done.Today Ching is happier than ever, his hole attitude has change like he's been reborn! The surgery couldn't have gone any betterand were back to normal.I must say this though this problem with the tiny or obstucted ear canals isn't as rare as you mite think. This problem has been seen mostly with Sar-Pei and thingyer Spaniels, and can cause deafness and or bad infection in the head and brain.I'm working on getting the statictics from university DVMD teaching school's and other sources. If you Pei gets more than 4 infections with in one year ,and this continues for anther 1-2 years chances are your Pei has Tiny ear canals and should be scoped to see any obstuctions and or mico ear canals.I hope this message gets out to all the SarPei owners around the world.Thank you for your reading this post and I hope that this will help owners with this type of problems.
Best to all, Chris Michaeledes

I clean my shar pei's ears every week, even there isn't anything, because by doing that, i can check how Diana's ears are doing. Cleaning ears often is the best way to keep infections away!

Hi my Chippa is also having ear problems it's driving him mad. I'm going to take him to the vet tomorrow. Well that's another story he hates the vet, tries to bite him. He has to be muzzled or given a sedative before he goes. Has anyone else had these problems. He's never been good with strangers.
