I would get him into the Vet ASAP. He may have just a minor upper respiratory infection, but it may have turned into pnemonia. In any case something IS going on that will likely require treatment, (antibiotics & such). What concerns me is the constant rattle in the chest that you mentioned which could be a low grade infection or may indicate other, potentially more serious issues.
One thing I would like to ask. Has your puppy had any history of regurgitating food within a few hours of eating? One of the issues with this breed is Megaesophagus....and one of its primary complicating factors is upper respiratory issues due to aspiration of stomach contents...this may well NOT be the issue you have...it may just be a "run of the mill" respiratory infection...but if there is any history of regular regurgitation (even a couple times a week) in combination with respiratory issues/infections one must consider the possibility of megaesophagus. This condition often has a far better prognosis if discovered and treated/managed early on. You can read more about this at Dr. Vidt's website (link available from the Bonafido links page. I hope your baby is feeling better soon and that it is nothing too serious.
